Browser notifications
Turn on EngageOne push notifications in Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, allow them in your browser, and unblock them if you clicked Block.
On this page
Browser push notifications tell you about new conversations, assignments and mentions, even when the EngageOne tab is in the background.
How it works
Two things must both be on:
- Your browser must allow notifications from your EngageOne address.
- Your EngageOne profile must have push turned on for this browser, with the events you want ticked.
Push is set per browser. If you use EngageOne in Chrome at work and Safari at home, turn it on in both.
Turn on push notifications in EngageOne
- Click your avatar at the bottom of the left sidebar and choose Profile settings.
- Scroll to Notification preferences.
- Turn on the switch next to Enable push notifications for your browser so you're able to receive them.
- When your browser asks, click Allow.
- In the Push notification column, tick the events you want, for example A conversation is assigned to you and You are mentioned in a conversation.
Your choices save as soon as you tick them.
Note: If nothing happens after you turn on the switch, your browser may have blocked notifications earlier. Follow the steps for your browser below, then try again.

- Reload the page, turn on the switch in EngageOne again and click Allow when asked.
Menu names can change slightly between browser versions.
Allow notifications in your computer's settings
Your browser also needs permission from your operating system.
| System | Where to check |
|---|---|
| Windows | Settings → System → Notifications. Make sure notifications are on and your browser is allowed. |
| macOS | System Settings → Notifications. Choose your browser and turn on Allow notifications. |
Test it
- Ask a teammate to mention you in a private note, or to assign a conversation to you.
- Switch to another tab or app.
- A notification should appear within a few seconds. Click it to open the conversation.
If nothing appears, work through Notifications not arriving.
Common messages
| What you see | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| This browser does not support desktop notification | The browser or mode you're using can't receive push notifications, for example some private windows | Use a normal window in an up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox |
| The switch turns on, but the browser never asks for permission | Notifications are blocked for the site | Allow notifications in your browser settings, as above |
Tip: Clearing your browser's site data for EngageOne also removes its push permission. If notifications stop after you clear your cache, turn the switch on again.
Audio alerts
Push notifications are separate from sounds. To hear a sound for new messages while the dashboard is open, set up Audio Alerts in your profile. See Profile and notifications.
